Bank Productivity
Third day of work today at one of the top Canadian Banks that's downtown around King St. When your building is so tall, a fire drill can really take a lot of energy out of you...especially when you're sick like me. Walking down 13 flights of stairs would be fun if I was healthier. Then you see all these suits standing around the corner of intersections waiting to be called back inside. Nobody tells me about the fire drill policy. Actually, nobody on my floor even KNEW about the policy! So much for a floor warden. We didn't even get those cool neon coloured arm bands! Lol.
Did I mention my work is so boring? Well, not that I would know for sure yet, cuz it's ONLY the 3rd day and of course, at the rate productivity is going, I'm not even sure when I'll be able to do anything with my OWN hands. Not to mention, the disconnected computer at my desk. I have to sit with this other co-op student whom, by the way, totally hates his work. So although he's supposed to be training me, I feel like I'm teaching him...plus getting annoyed when he stops working. If he stops working, that means I have nothing to watch/do.
Well, pay is good, and I'm sure pretty soon I will swamp myself with enough work to keep me occupied throughout the day. No worries. I just hope the manager will be ABLE to give me work, when I ask for more. There's more downtime than there is real work time. I never thought sitting there with no work is worse than having too much! Bring on the responsibilities already! Or maybe I should be careful what I wish for? Still, I think the IT department is slower than any other department at the bank. Some days, there's no productivity and that's boring.
Road Kill
I was having such a nice weekend last week. It started off with a successful interview, and then a day at Wonderland with Alex! We went on so many rides until we got so sick of them that we had to go to kids world. But then Wonderland was closing, so we only had time to go on one kids' ride. The ride was so fun though, it was called Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion. It's a really slow ride, in a 2 seat car through this haunted mansion. But the best part was, you get to shoot things with the guns in the car to rack up points. By the time the ride ended, we were practically on our knees reaching out of the car to get those last few points. Haha. Then on saturday we had a nice japanese dinner eating SPICY ramen! Kekeke... Alex had the level of 2 hot peppers for his ramen, and I had 1.5. Lol. In the end after 3 bites, he had to ask the waitress to exchange it cuz it was too hot. Then the waitresses were so nice, periodically bringing us water and napkins! Lol! Sunday was a nice mother's day dinner at an all you can eat restaurant.
Then, this week went downhill. Monday, I swear I was cursed. No matter what I was meant to inflict some sort of unwanted scrapes and scars. If I didn't have a cut there, I'd have a cut somewhere else, and if it was healing, another one will be magically inflicted. Then to top it off, I was looking for a new female family physician, and none of them were accepting new patients! *sigh* Then today, on the way home I almost ran over a raccoon. Thankfully, I didn't run over the ugly thing. But as I was nearing the end of Glen Cameron, I ran over this black animal. I couldn't see what it was, but it looked small enough to be a black dog or cat, and it couldn't have been a skunk cuz it didn't stink and there was no white fur on it. I felt SO bad that I drove back to the street. From where I was turning left to get back on the street I could see it lying there in the middle of the road, as I waited for a car to pass by. Then when the car passed, as I was about to turn, I saw the black animal dart across the rest of the street and when I drove by it seemed to be lying next to the bushes at The Friendly Greek! Okay, I swear I ran over the thing when my car went "gung gung". WAAAAAAA... I never ran over anything before. Okay, I guess something had to take this blood curse away from me.
A Series of Unfortunate Events
Haven't written here in so long. After my last post, I haven't wanted to come back and see it. But anyway, I guess enough time has passed to look back again and say everything's alright now. Today I watched Lemony Snicket's: A Series of Unfortunate Events. I swear the movie cursed me! Don't watch it! I had a streak of bad luck today...dunno what's going on. I feel like a klutz. First, I wanted to make dinner for myself steaming pork buns. Then I decided to do the laundry like I said I would earlier in the day, but I totally forgot about it. In the middle of my laundry, the stupid machine jammed and wouldn't start, so I had to fix it. Reaching down into a huge pile of dirty laundry soaked in water, my little arms trying to untangle the many pairs of jeans inside. When I finally got it to start going again, as I walked back to the kitchen I could smell burning. My pot was burning cuz there was no water left. Then I had to take my steaming tray off the pot, the steam then decided to turn my thumb into a carrot looking appendage. Ouch. Now my thumb looks like a bloated red sausage. Now I had to wash the burnt pot with my sausaged thumb and air out the house all before my parents came home. Aaahhh...
My series of unfortunate events didn't end there. I ate the pork buns cuz I was so hungry, but I don't think they were cooked well done. Oh well, so if I die, you'll know I died of meat poisoning. At least now the laundry is in the dryer, although I don't think it was washed well, there's still a soapy smell. Tomorrow's gonna be dedicated to fixing today's mess.
